Contrary to belief there are plenty of great video game titles available on Mac. As it stands right now, there are still several big name video game titles that have yet to officially confirm a Mac platform release.
Despite there being workarounds to enjoying video games on the Windows platform, we listed some of our most anticipated titles that are currently set to release on the Macintosh.

Sonic Mania

Publisher: Sega
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: Q2 2017
Sonic the Hedgehog is a staple video game character. Decades have passed and to this day, there are still new Sonic games being pumped out. While some of the more recent releases haven’t fetched the same fame and glory for Sega as the initial releases, there is one title that is really becoming hyped up.
Sonic Mania is an upcoming side-scrolling platformer that fans of the original Sonic the Hedgehog titles are eager to get their hands on. This upcoming title will return to the original gameplay and visual art styles which certainly plays towards the nostalgic factor for some gamers.
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Developer: Warhorse Studios
Publisher: Warhorse Studios, Deep Silver
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017

Developers Warhorse Studios is attempting to deliver a historically accurate and realistic video game set in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia. Gamers may notice the period-accurate armor, clothing, combat techniques, and even real-world castle recreations.
In the video game’s campaign, the old king of Bohemia had passed with his heirs lacking the ability and power to secure the throne. Using this opportunity to take advantage and claim the rights, the old king’s brother takes control of Bohemia.
Players will be taking on the role of a blacksmith’s son whose family had been murdered by an invading army. With revenge burning in his heart, the son seeks out his family’s killer while also restoring the throne to the rightful heir.
Outlast 2
Developer: Red Barrels
Publisher: Red Barrels
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
Outlast 2, by development team Red Barrels, will follow similar game mechanics of the first installment to the survival-horror franchise. Players this time around will take on the role of Blake Langermann, an investigative journalist, and cameraman, alongside his wife, as they uncover clues to a murder of a pregnant woman.
In their journey, Blake and his wife become separated after their helicopter crashes. Much like the past installment, players are not suited with the ability to combat the enemy forces. Instead, our protagonist will mostly have to hide and run away from any danger.
However, since Blake is already a cameraman, he is equipped with a more advanced camera that will offer clearer footage, zoom, an audio detection system, and of course night vision. Gamers will still have to hunt down new batteries for the camera when it drains from night vision use just as they did before.
Fortnite
Developer: Epic Games, People Can Fly
Publisher: Epic Games
Platforms: PC
Release Date: TBA 2017
Fornite is an upcoming survival game from developers People Can Fly and Epic Games. With this upcoming survival game, there is massive emphasis in co-op gameplay.
Players will have to work together as they survive waves of zombies. Essentially, players will have to work as a group when scavenging items and exploring. After gathering enough supplies, the group of players must work on building a fort that will be able to withstand an onslaught of undead attacks during the night.
Absolver
Developer: Sloclap
Publisher: Devolver Digital
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
Absolver is a bit different than some of the other titles currently in this list. The video game is a martial arts-based video game from developers Sloclap, an indie studio formed by former Ubisoft Paris employees.
The video game fighting mechanics seems to flow rather smoothly and there appears to be free-roaming with a campaign. While we’re looking forward to finding out more about Absolver, news of players being able to customize their own fighting moves along with the ability to pair up with a friend in online multiplayer versus matches is easily making this title highly anticipated for the video game enthusiast who’s ready to brawl with some friends.
Gang Beasts
Developer: Boneloaf
Publisher: Double Fine Presents
Platforms: PC, PS4
Release Date: TBA 2017
Gang Beasts have already been played and shared online since 2014, thanks to early access, however, the full release is expected to launch in 2017. The video game is a local multiplayer beat ‘em up and a perfect one to enjoy as a party game. Download playstation app.
Players will take the role of a colored humanoid figurine and battle against friends in a series of hazardous environments. Gameplay is easy to master and more relaxed compared to titles such as the upcoming Tekken installment. If you have yet to enjoy the early access version of this game, do yourself a favor and mark down Gang Beasts as a title to watch for in 2017.
Yooka-Laylee
Developer: Playtonic Games
Publisher: Team17
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1, Wii U
Release Date: TBA 2017
Development team Playtonic Games contains several former key staff members from studio Rare. As such, the team has opted to make a spiritual successor to one of their previous successful titles, Banjo-Kazooie. Releasing at some point during the first quarter of 2017 is Yooka-Laylee.
Much like Banjo-Kazooie, there will be plenty of items to collect during your platform adventure. Furthermore, similar to Banjo-Kazooie, there will be two main characters who must stop the evil Dr. Quak from stealing all the world literature and selling it for profit.
Tacoma
Developer: Fullbright
Publisher: Fullbright
Platforms: PC, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
From the development team that has previously brought out Gone Home, comes Tacoma. This is a new upcoming exploration video game title that is set in space, a total of 200,000 miles from Earth.
We don’t know too much about the upcoming title other than that players will be taking on a role of a technician. This technician has a new job located on the Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma. Though it seems that something is amiss with this station that lacks inhabitants leaving players to uncover the mystery alone in the vast openness of space.
